Sorry, this post, My Goals for 2024 is a little late in getting out! 2023 was a year with a lot of unexpected challenges and just a hectic year, especially during the 3rd and 4th quarters of the year. Some things happened that aren’t the norm, which I guess can be good and bad depending on which way you look at it. Some things were good and then other things got me distracted from what I should be doing.

As a result of those things in 2023, I chose the word FOCUS as my word of the year. This is for me not to get distracted from those things I shouldn’t be doing when I can Focus more on those things I should.
I need to do a better job prioritizing my life on the things I need to get done. When the family watches TV during the day, I shouldn’t give in and do the same. I have always been that person where I do not watch TV till evening time. It makes it hard when I am just taking a break and they turn the TV on. I have always liked quiet during the day, but since more people work at home or schedules are different than they used to be. I need to make myself stronger to not give in to what I am supposed to be doing.
With all this in mind, I chose several goals for 2024. This may be too ambitious, but we will have to see. This list makes me feel inspired and want to succeed with my goals this year. I also want to focus on decluttering certain areas of my home this year.
How I’m Planning My Year for All the Unexpected and Unknown
I have not always focused on my Goals the way I should, so I hope this year will be more focused. I broke my goals into categories to ensure I am investing my time in my priority areas. Since I am later writing about my goals I am going to have my start date for most items on February 1st.
So, here are my goals for 2024…
Personal Goals
- Bible Reading Goal: Just read daily — Finish Reading Bible in 1 Year: My number one goal for this is to read daily. I attempted reading the Bible in 1 Year last year, but fell behind and started a new one on January 1st. However, this year I am going to complete its entirety till I finish what the calendar says. I started using another app called Through the Word, so I may do a different bible reading plan next year.
- Reading Goal: Finish 50 Books: For the last few years I have been reading very low numbers. I have high hopes that 2024 is going to be a better reading year for me! I’m planning to read 4 personal development books and I read 1 every quarter. I will also read 4business books where I will read 1 every quarter. I, also plan to read 4 Amish books, one every quarter, 2 Christmas books, and 1 Winter Book. I want to read at least 1 book in each of the following book formats per month which are physical, e-book, and audiobook.
- Health Goal: Record What I Eat: I am working on making more healthy choices. I use an app called Cronometer to record what I eat. I want to work on recording more consistently. There are times I forget to record. The other app I use to track what I eat for all food groups is Start Simple with MyPlate.
- Color 1 full page in Coloring Books Monthly: When I was working outside the home, I got to color quite often with my students. Now I am home, I do not make the time to color much anymore. I am making it a goal this year because I miss coloring.
- Complete 2 Embroidery Projects: I have always wanted to do this and never have completed any projects. This year, I decided to make it a goal, so I will complete it.
- TV & Movie Watching Goal: I want to finish watching 4 movies, 2 TV Series, and 10-20 Christmas Movies. I will work on this goal every single month.
Household Goals
- Bake Bread or Cookies Once A Month: I hardly ever make the time to bake much throughout the year except at Christmas time. I want to make a habit of doing this at other times of the year as well.
- Paint the Hallway Bathroom: The plan is to have this done by February. My daughter is planning on coming over to do it.
- Paint the Master Bathroom: We recently put barn doors in our bathroom and they stand out more with the gray paint instead of the white since the doors are white with black brackets.
- Place Rocks around the house where the planters are: This will make our flowers stand out that are in the planters. My goal is to get this done in early spring or so.
- Reorganize and declutter several areas of my home: I have been working on my office and I use the 6-Week Sprint from Kalyn Brooke. I usually take more than 6 weeks, but it does help me stay on task for each section of my home I want to declutter.
Financial Goals
- Pay Off 3 Credit Cards: We are working on paying some debts off. My goal is to pay 3 credit cards off this year.
- Save $1,000 with the YNAB More Money Challenge (Twice Yearly): We are participating in this for January and hopefully, we will make it to our goal.
Business Goals
- Stay more consistent ahead on my blog: This is one of those goals where it is not considered a smart goal. I want to focus on this area for work this year to work more in advance, so it’s not so stressful when I’m hustling to get content finished at the last minute!
- Write 2 New Blog Posts Per Month: This is to help me stay on task.
- Create my shop on my Website: I want to work on this twice a month till I am finished.
- Create A Freebie Page: I want to work on this once a month till I am finished.
How I’m Tracking My Goals
For all of my goals, I am tracking them in 2 different ways. The first way is by using a phone app called Habit Share, which is a free app. I can’t put all my goals on there. You can mark them quickly at the time I need to by being on my iPhone. The other way is by using Notion which is a tool I use often for lots of things in my life, personal and business. The template I use tells you what percentage you have achieved your goal. The other task I am tracking on Notion is my energy so I know which tasks need to be what time of the day.
